Color Story

I've been working on a little sweater for my tiny nephew in celebration of his baptism. The colors inspired me to look around at some of the rich hues which make indoors feel so cozy this time of year, when it is so cold and gray outside.

I painted the icon of the Archangel Gabriel below using egg-tempera, in 1996. It is a copy of an icon made by a Constantinopolitan artist working in the Sinai long ago.

Hi Beth, It is interesting that thou it it bleak outside, that out inner winter life is full of ideas and richness, it is a time of creating and imagining. Lovely sweater. Cheers Marie

Thank you, Marie, and Pamela. Color is one of my joys. I'm glad I can surround myself with it inside at this time of year. Marie...don't you live in Australia? I'm going to go see where you and Pamela live. love, Beth

I love the warm colors, these are the shades that call to me in the cold of winter as well! What a beautiful egg tempera icon painting. I love your creative eye!
