Are you starting to think about Halloween already? Me neither, but my little boy is. Here are some pictures of a project I have been working on for about a year. These drawings are quite large, and are done in artist's colored pencil. I keep my pencils sharp, and it takes a long time to do these portraits.
What is your child talking about being for Halloween? Do you make costumes? Do your children improvise? Do you go to the store and buy one? What was your best costume when you were a child? I'd love to hear all about it!

Oh my gosh, BETH!!! Is there anything you can't do?? Your drawing is fantastic... you capture their moods... The Snow White Girl reminds me so of my daughter... she has been so looking forward to dressing up and now that it's time, she's afraid she'll look silly. Wow... it could be her!
Thanks for showing us.
Blessings and magic.
Beth, your drawings are incredible!
Do you do commissioned portraits?
I can imagine your son will certainly remember these days of mama drawing out his costume options! So beautiful! hmmm... last year I sewed a lion costume for my youngest son and a Dorothy costume from the wizard of oz sparkly red shoes and all! My oldest wasn't into the theme lol so he had a crown, 'kings' shirt and he stepped into a horse costume which made it appear as if he were riding it. he held reigns that held the head up and off he galloped! I am not sure what this year will have in store for costumes : ) My kids love dressing up about every day so it is fun to have these new additions to our dress up trunk.
Those are just amazing!
Hi, Magic Onions!!!!! Thanks so much for the encouragement. I need it right now as I try to get my art out more. I'm going to try to get some galleries interested in Disguises and another project I did. That's great that Snow White Girl looks like your daughter. I think I see that. Have a great day!
Hi, Garden Mama! I do draw commissioned portraits and have been doing so for about 21 years. I loved hearing about the wonderful costumes at your house! Isn't it fun to see what they come up with from the costume box? You're a supermama sewing costumes as you do. I did that with the older children and now I just go to the store!
Thanks for looking and commenting, Julia!

Beth, These are amazing. The first one is more realistic than a photo. You should definitely show these in a gallery. I've been reading your blog for a few months but I never saw this post - thanks for linking to it in your post today. Just...wow!
