Make some acorn people to live in your fairy houses and sand castles. They are more durable and waterproof than many indoor dolls and toy people, and they seem to belong in natural settings.
Collect some cork stoppers (or wine corks) and some freshly fallen acorns with caps.
Sand the pointy acorn tip down by rubbing it on a rock. If you still have trouble seating the acorn flat on the cork, use a dinner knife to press a little depression into the top of the cork. Glue the pieces together using a water proof glue.These acorn people live in a seaside cottage. Because they are waterproof they can sleep in their mussel shell beds using wet sea lettuce as blankets.
If they go for a boat ride in a scallop shell and
tumble out into the sea, that's okay, they float.
They can play on a wet, rocky, wave-splashed island and get their feet as wet as they want.

I love the things that you appreciate in life, nature children handmade toys... these acorn dolls are so sweet, I love that you have used the seaweed for a blanket, I can certainly imagine my children loving this! I look forward to reading your book when it comes out ; )
At the sea again. I suppose you live nearby Beth. We have to travel so long to find our coastline. This is a lovely idea. One I will remember when we go to the beach. We are always looking for people to put into our beach fairy houses. You asked if we sang at our Spring festival. Yes we did. I have some lovely Waldorf music books. Song of Seasons is a good one.

Hi, Gardenmama! Writing this blog is so fun because it is so easy for me to remember how to play and doing the blog gives me the opportunity to do it. My (grown) daughter helped with the acorn people post, creating the seaside cottage and coming up with the furniture and sea lettuce blankets. She is even more playful than I and seems to be able to go right back to her fairy house making days.

We do live near the beach and drive 45 minutes to an hour to get there. Every summer we learn more, explore more, and love it even more. I am writing a lot about the beach now because I know these are the last barefoot days.
