Crochet Coat

I can't wait to wear these colors. It is a joy to work with them. I like making progress in these small increments. I can complete a little pile of them in a sitting, watching the Bay from my adirondack chair on the porch, cuddled on the sofa next to my husband when he is working on his computer at night, or sitting on a brick wall on the playground after school. I love to experiment with colors. Most of them look wonderful together, in every combination. And each square feels like a little creation of its own. I am a knitter, and I do love to knit, but this seems even more fun. When I knit for an hour I have more rows on my work. When I crochet, I have a handful of little abstract pieces of art. Have you tried crochet yet? love, Beth

My high school boyfriend's mother, taught me how to do granny squares and they are my favorites to this day. I made an afghan for my son, that is red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, with black trim that is quite lovely. Now I just have to connect the squares!

Beth,

They are such happy colors, and you have combined them so beautifully. I can't wait to see what you will combine them into!

I can't wait to see it also. I've been contemplating the idea of making a granny blanket and can't decide if I will go with my wool scraps or choose a color combination

Dear Linda,

You are such an amazing knitter, you'd be a whiz at crochet. Imene...let me see what you come up with! I am going to try to use one stitch gauge a bit more so that I will always have lovely scraps to work with instead of a mish-mash. Nadja, could your yarn shop teach you? Thanks for your enthusiasm, readers! Beth

Hi Beth, I like doing crochet. I never got on with knitting. talk about watching paint dry! and it was so tight the needles squawked!
Crochet goes faster. I usually do granny squares, too.

Do you have any bright ideas about joining up the squares? I have tried different ways, but would love to hear what you think is best.

Guess what, Sandy? I am a new crocheter. I've never made anything! I also need to learn how to put things together. I have a crochet book I can check, and Attic 24 has some crochet tutorials. Have you ever looked at Attic 24? It is very inspiring. love, Beth
