We are moving to a beautiful place far, far away! Can you guess where? If you have been reading this blog for a while, you might remember this picture.....
I've not been reading long but those look like the mountains of Colorado to me. I could be wrong but we've drove through Colorado several times. The mountains are beautiful.
I think they speak German, italian and romansh, right? oh and french as well. And it's cold in the winter but beeeeaaaautiful and I'm kind of jealous :-)
Austria? That's just a guess from the landscape. I need to scour your blog and find out now :) I have a terrible memory. Wherever it is, I am so excited for you!
Oh, dear...I accidentally deleted some comments. Oops. Grace guessed Switzerland, and she's right! Patzi also guessed, and she knows a lot about it, since she knows that four languages are spoken there! Eeeek! A big adventure! love, Beth
Oh, Beth that's beautiful! I moved to New Hampshire from Italy and I love it here, but my favourite place in Italy are the Dolomites, the Alpine region up North. My favourite region is Trentino Alto-Adige, where they speak German, Ladino(an old language and dialect) and Italian.I understand your excitement! Switzerland is right there when I go to Milan to fly over here and I see the mountains nearby. How nice! Congratulations!
I grew up near the Bavarian Alps in Munich and spent a lot of time in the Austrian Alps as well. Not in Switzerland, however. Still, it is surely one of the most beautiful places on earth, and it makes me homesick, as I haven't been back since 1995!
OH MY GOODNESS!!! How exciting!!! I can't wait to hear all your details. How long will you be gone? Who will be going with you? How on earth were you able to make this work? What a dream. Congratulations!!! '
I love your old stomping grounds. The South Tyrol is one of my favorite places! I'm thrilled about moving closer to Italy. It will be so easy to travel. love, Beth
Amanda...it is exciting! We were planning on going to Switzerland for sabbatical, and it evolved into a wonderful job offer. Our little boy is coming with us. Our eldest son is a chef in NYC, and our daughter is in college. The move takes places this summer, and just now I am in a frenzy getting our house ready to sell. Parts of the frenzy are fun, though, like planting beautiful flowers all over the garden today. It felt great to get outside after all my indoor chores.
you are the luckiest family ever! i'm so envious. it's a dream of mine to live in der schweiz. my family took me there from germany on the glacier express for my 10th birthday and i've been dreaming of it ever since. how long will you live there? indefinitely? details beth!!! : ) i'm sure we'll get them soon. very excited for you all. what a wonderful experience for you all.
Thanks....I will try to find a way to drink goat milk from a little wooden bowl! One of my favorite memories from a visit there was going to a dairy farm at the top of a pass. I went into the cave and bought cheese from a crunchy French girl who was working there for the summer. It was so fun to chat with her and watch her slice the beautiful cheeses which my son and I had for a snack. I also loved seeing the huge cow bells with embroidered straps which we saw on the porch. love, Beth
Have been following your lovely blog from the UK. Wonderful to go to Switzerland, what an opportunity. Love the mountains, particularly the Alps which we visit regularly. Rosemary
yyyyyyyay! I love the Alps!!! It's beautiful and the people are amazing! so kind! We usually visit Austria and love it... once we went to Geneva and it was incredible! the way of life... the food.. beer... and CHOCOLATE! enjoy! cannot wait to follow your adventure!
Wow, so exciting! I'd love to live in Italy for a while. I was only in Switzerland briefly--I was visiting relatives in northern Italy and they took me for the day. The colors are different in the Alps, richer somehow, more saturated. Looking forward to hearing about your adventures in Europe!
Wow, you are so lucky! I've guessed it's Switzerland as well :) Do you know where exactly you will live? I have a good friend of mine in Geneva, could connect you
Hi Beth - just saw your comment on my Blog. Welcome to life in a very beautiful part of the world :-)) Living here is fabulous, and particularly kid friendly, and the chocolate is good too! I don't know of any other Swiss Blogs that focus on life with kids, but will send you a link with a couple of sites that talk abut days out, etc. Good luck with the moving prep - such an exciting time. Fiona (in the hot and sunny land of chocolate)
My goodness! a move to one of the most beautiful places on Earth. Beth what lovely news! I wish you all the best with the sale of your home. How exciting....I hope you give us all the details and keep us on a daily journal of your visits.
Its good to be back and thank you for your visit today.
How exciting! I am from California, but am married to a Swiss and have been living in Switzerland for almost 10 years! It seems we are sort of swapping places, though, as my dh's work is sending us to the metro NYC area for the next four years starting this summer. :-) But then we'll be back!
Lausanne is the best part of Switzerland, if you ask me...wonderful! We are in Bern...which is also lovely.
Hi, Cari! Thanks for the nice welcome. I'm sorry we will miss meeting one another. Do you know of any kindred spirit bloggers in Switzerland? I'm trying to find my people! Beth
